Slovakia to Move Embassy to Jerusalem

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Jewish News Syndicate reported Wednesday that Slovakia intends to move it’s embassy to Jerusalem. There is no declared time frame yet, but Israel is hopeful. JNS reports…

The decision, made by Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, came after Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein called on Bratislava’s government to follow the Czech Republic in opening an honorary consulate in the city.

Edelstein thanked the Slovaks, saying, “This is a tremendous diplomatic achievement for Israel and a pleasant surprise for all of us. I am certain that when additional delegations arrive here they will understand Jerusalem is Israel’s eternal capital.”

On May 14th, the United States officially opened it’s embassy in Jerusalem and several other nations are following suit.  This is great news for Israel, especially in the light of increasing anti-semitism

BEYOND THE HEADLINE

While we should celebrate anytime Jerusalem is recognized as Israel’s eternal capital, we must stay alert.  End times Bible prophecy is centered around Jerusalem and Zechariah 12:2-3 tells us that the nations of the world will gather against Jerusalem right before Jesus returns.  It is likely that events leading up to the great tribulation will look good for Israel, probably similar to recent events.  The great tribulation itself will begin with a covenant (or possibly treaty) being broken and an abomination that causes desolation in the temple (Daniel 9:27) and Matthew 24:24 warns us that even the elect would be deceived if possible.  The most important thing to remember is that our salvation does not come from any man and we should never put our trust in anyone but God.  If we keep our eyes on Jesus and dilligently search the scriptures daily (Acts 17:11), the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth and keep us from deception – even deception that comes disguised as an angel of light.
