Update: While many of the thoughts I expressed in this post remain unchanged, I have come to a realization that we have all been indoctrinated by Progressives on both sides of the aisle to believe that we must select one of 2 choices and that the Republican Party is the champion of personal freedom, small government and Biblical principles. It is a lie perpetuated by power-hungry politicians who have forsaken individual rights in favor of big government. For decades, most Christians have remained loyal to the GOP, hailing the party platform as a liberty-promoting, Constitution-defending, God-honoring document. While there are a few (Ben Sasse, Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and others) who hold true to the platform, for the party as a whole it has been nothing more than words designed to please their base and get the vote out only to discard it all as they continue with Progressive politics as usual. In the book Philip Dru, Administrator, written by a friend and close advisor to Woodrow Wilson, the plan of Progressivism is outlined, culminating with the president as an administrator – a businessman – whose job is to efficiently manage the bureaucracy. There is no Constitution, no liberty, nothing that the founders fought for. When I and others have promoted men like Mitt Romney as a “good businessman who is just what this country needs,” we have demonstrated our inability and/or unwillingness to think for ourselves in repeating a sentiment that was coined by Progressives and used to brainwash Americans for decades via the media, public schools, colleges and universities into doing just what they wanted us to do. I fell into this trap for a long time, but no more. I am committed to seeking candidates who uphold the Constitution and will no longer believe the lie of a binary choice. May God bless our quest for truth and give us the wisdom to hear from Him and think for ourselves.
“The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and they consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will probably deliver them. The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; this is all we can expect.”
George Washington and his men fought for the cause of freedom in America 236 years ago. They were outnumbered, outgunned, underfunded and less experienced. Yet, Washington’s army trusted in God to be their deliverer. They trusted that God was on the side of freedom and liberty. They trusted that one man (or woman) and God could conquer even the most formidable of foes. Many laid down their lives, many lost their limbs, their fortunes, their homes, their loved ones so that America could be free. Free to worship as we choose, free to start a business, free to own property, and free to elect leaders to rightly govern according to our constitution.
Fast forward to 2012. Four years ago, fifty-three percent of those that went to the polls looked past Obama’s ties to radical communist and socialist leaders and elected him to the presidency, believing that he would deliver what he promised and bring hope and change to America.
Well, I do not see any hope, but what I do see is change. Dangerous, constitution-trampling change.
Obama has extended the federal government far beyond what any predecessor has ever done. He has
racked up more debt in just over 3-1/2 years than all other presidents combined. He has bowed to an Arab king, apologized for America to hostile nations, informed the Muslim world that America is not a Christian nation, instituted a “healthcare” system that forces people to choose between their faith and shutting down their church or business, at every opportunity treated our strongest ally in the Middle East (Israel) as an enemy, told the Russian president to give him “space” and that he would have more “flexibility” after the election, and usurped our nation’s system of checks and balances that has kept us free for over 200 years by appointing his own government of 44 czars without the constitutionally mandated Senatorial approval or Congressional oversight.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
When Romney was running during the primaries, I believed that he was not the right choice for the Republican party. Now, however, I am truly convinced that the hand of God has been on this election from the start. We now find out that Mitt Romney is not a cold-hearted businessman, but in fact has done much good in the world and touched many lives. You can find out more about that here:
I am unashamedly pro-life and have been ever since I first knew what abortion was. This is always the most important issue to me when I go to cast my ballot. Mitt Romney used to be pro-choice and has claimed a change of heart. Some doubt his convictions and believe the change to be only politically motivated. However, when you listen to his story, you very quickly understand what happened. As the issue of embryonic stem cell research was debated on both the state and national levels, Romney had to make a decision as to which side of the debate he would take. He called in bio-ethicists, scientists and physicians in order to better understand the issue. As Romney puts it, “In considering the issue of embryo cloning and embryo farming, I saw where the harsh logic of abortion can lead–to the view of innocent new life as nothing more than research material or a commodity to be exploited … I simply could not be part of an effort that would cause the destruction of human life.” (quoted from http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/06/19/mitt-romney-and-abortion-why-are-pro-lifers-still-questioning-convert/)
When I consider all of the aforementioned issues that I have with President Obama combined with his consistent record of opposing equal treatment and constitutional rights for babies born alive after a failed abortion, his reversing of the Mexico City Policy that disallowed funding to any foreign groups that performed or actively promoted abortions, the HHS mandate that would require faith-based groups to provide insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, and his absolute unwillingness to vote for or sign any limitations on abortion, including simple parental notification laws, I wonder how there can be any doubt that in order to save America, we must vote for Romney this November.
As George Washington told his troops, “The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves…” Fortunately, we are not in the position that Washington and his army were, having to choose whether to risk life and limb in a bloody war in order to secure there basic freedoms.
All we have to do is fill out a simple ballot in order to secure our freedoms. We do not have to fight a war. They did that for us. We do not have to sacrifice our loved ones. They did that for us. We do not have to sacrifice our lives, fortunes and sacred honor. They did that for us.
So, what are we going to do for them? Are we going to put up a “brave resistance” to the destruction of
America as we know it? Are we going to face the bad weather or the fussy baby or the deadlines that must be met at work in order to cast our ballots?
Truly, the fate of unborn millions rests in our hands in less than one month. Are we going to preserve
freedom or are we going to go down the road toward socialism in America in which there is no middle class, but only an elite ruling class and an impoverished public that lives in “abject submission.”
It’s quite a decision and it’s yours to make. Choose carefully.
